short answer: yes. I give my NiMH batteries a zap the night before a game to top them up, and High capacity NiCds Ill use a couple games before i put them on a discharge/charge cycle

Yes but they won't drain themselves in a week or two. They will still have most of their charge.

Unless you are using lipos. Lipo batteries loose much less of their charge over time and unless you are storing them over a period of six months or more you are probably not going to need to top them up before a game.

Lithium batteries won't lose much as opposed to Ni-Mh or Ni-Cd batteries. But yeah any rechargeable batteries self-drain over time.

most nimh batteries are discharging at a rate of 5% every 3 days.
but for lipos,there is no such a problem! |

I've never found any of my lipos discharged on their own. Though, nimh, you need to charge every once in awhile, I've had to throw out too many due to them over discharging on their own and not holding a charge any more.
