Tan/Sand Krylon
Today I was looking through the isles of Canadian tire at the Krylon fusion paints. There were a couple choices that looked like they could be used to paint my gun desert/tan.
What paint do you guys use for desert/tan? |

Just wondering, where do you buy the duracoat product from.
Thanks

The website is a little tricky to navigate but they respond quickly to all orders and usually get your stuff shipped out the same day!

http://www.lauerweaponry.com/item-de...TOKEN=98042289 Trust me, it's worth the difference in cost.4 I use it in high-friction areas, like pistol grips, handgrips, etc. Last edited by MoreToasties; January 31st, 2010 at 14:25.. |

You can also apply duracoat with a Preval Sprayer. It is basically a jar and sprayer that makes it into a spray can. Here in the US they are available at Home Depot and other DIY stores for about $5.00 each.
The Duracoat is really nice, and is basically a spray on epoxy finish. It cures with time and when it does, it doesn't rub off. It is expensive, however, so make sure that it is the route you want to go before buying it. I wrote this in response to someone's question on Airsoftforum: http://www.airsoftforum.com/board/lo...p/t172961.html |

This is a good video for understanding what duracoat is and how to apply it.
I taught myself how by watching him paint the Ontario Rat 1 folding knife. YouTube- "The DuraCoat Experience" by Nutnfancy |

I have used both Duracoat and Krylon to paint guns, I find that the krylon does hold up to abuse, but only if you don't handle the painted piece for the 7 day curing time. The Duracoat however is a much better quality of paint/epoxy, but like the other fella said, if money is an issue make sure that is the route you want to go. It is also hard to remove Duracoat, say if you wanted to repaint your weapon later. Short of a sandblaster that stuff wont come off.

I was looking for a more "yellow" "sandy" sort of paint, does anyone have any recommendations for that?

Tamiya aerosol model paints wear surprisingly well when given enough time to cure.
