hello ladies,
I need to find someone able to do that very simple job for me on a mill, that I would gladly pay for ![]() the idea is to remove the material shaded in red in the pic. (it's the base that usually holds the rail, just a chunk of soft aluminium.) ![]() I already removed most of it with the wrong tools (axe, chainsaw, teeth) , but it's so badly done that I need someone to even the surfaces with a real mill and finish the job cleanly. do you guys know how much it would cost? and who could do that for me? thank you! Jim

If you don't find anyone to do it, try a bastard file, should get it nice and flat.

Start with a Bastard, and work your way down to smoother files..
Careful with aluminum though, It gets goooie and will gum up the file.

Just like ThunderCactus described. Get it in a sturdy vice, stand while you're filing and go nice and smooth.
With a rough hacksaw cut and a file you'd probably have it done before someone could set up the tooling to cut it. (or at least me ![]() |

I have done numerous mods to a lot of parts using a dremel (for rough) then using a very coarse file and going down to a fine finishing file. |

hey thank you all, I found someone to help me!
the hand file is really too much work, and the result would be messy. I removed some material with a dremel using a dremel press as a mill, which is very not recommandable and gives terrible results ( uneven surface --> impossible to properly file by hand and get a flat zeroed surface ), so I decided to stop and have someone do it well. ![]()
