G&G M4 Spring Question

Would a G&G M4 Carbine be able to handle an SP110 spring without upgrading any of the internals from stock. If it could, how much of a difference would the ROF be between the SP110 and the stock spring if I was using a 9.6v battery?

I would say you need bushings instead of what I think it comes stock with (bearings). It wouldn't be bad to look to a G&P M120 motor as well, and maybe for longevity's sake get a sorbo piston+cylinder head.

Clear-lowered G&G's come with solid metal bushings from what I've seen.

I have a clear soft G&G GR16 A3 full stock and have upgraded my gun with a couple of springs. I put in a PDI 150% spring and had it shooting at 425fps with a .20g BB roughly, but had to upgrade to a Elite 9.6v large type 4000nimh battery from cheapbatterypacks.com to handle the extra demand of energy, oh and I also converted to Deans connectors.

The stock gear box is nicely built, it has full ball bearings, no bushings. There maybe a very entry level gun available without bearings but mine is equipped with them as most in the series are. Also the company said the gun is equipped with a ball bearing spring guide, but what it didn't say is that it is also equipped with a ball bearing piston head.

I am not sure what FPS you are hoping to achieve with your spring upgrade, but if it is not too extreme the stock gun should take it. I so far haven't seen anything wrong i.e metal shavings in my gear box since I have upgraded mine. Don't forget either it is stock with a high torque motor and metal case, gears, and anti reversal latch.

yeah and i was looking at getting the advanced version with:

reinforced piston and metal piston head
g&g strong motor
tight bore (6.04)
bearing metal spring guide
ball bearing bushings

im guessing it can handle a pdi 150 especially with the upgrades
also it comes stock with a 9.6v

The G&G Strong is actually not that bad, and can run 400 fps springs for a good time, had that same "advanced" version last summer and it performed really well, until my barrel get jammed and the piston got torn into parts.
