I think somebody posted a video about the US army using airsoft as a recruiting tool a while ago. Always nice seeing airsoft as more than just "will teach our children to kill everybody"

A different take on airsoft. Not too bad, the problem is that a large part of the canadian population aren't exactly supportive of our military and would say that it's just propaganda and that blahblahblahl...

In short, it's not offensive at all for me, but most soccer moms (which are probably the worst threat to airsoft) are 200% against anything military. And it wouldn't help, as they'd say "but because of this my so lovely 2003 soccer champion could die -for real!!!" or something along these lines.

Nice text but as you see, this text talk about the US, where the military and weapons are much more present and accepted by people. The mentality here is much more different. There are much more anti-guns millitant in the Canada than in the US and that is one of the problem airsoft has in Canada. What we use look too much like guns for them so they are against airsoft.

Soccer moms have the mentality of a 3 year old child, everything they want they must get, and everything they think must be what everyone else thinks. I don't think the military is a very pleasant career, so I'll never join, but I don't care if anyone else joins, that's their life. Well, I might attempt to talk some very close friends out of it, but that's just me.

It's interesting that they only referred to this great and varied sport as being used for battle re-enactments. By comparing airsoft favorably to Civil War re-enactments they make it un-patriotic to disapprove of airsoft. A solid blow against those evil masterminds who would shut us down!
