Opinion on Traps in Airsoft
Hello All,
I currently am just starting out in the game and am interested in producing traps made out of M203 shells. I would like opinions from the community as to whether this would be something that would be accepted, encouraged or just outright unacceptable. I understand it likely will have to be dealt with on a game by game basis but just an overall opinion would be a good starter. The trap that I am specifically thinking of is very much along the lines of a claymore with a trip wire. Given this obviously the range would be relatively close. Thank you for taking the time to respond to me. |

Stay tuned
![]() I'm currently producing something that will be more effective than that and that will cost less than $50 CAD. If everything goes according to plan... My new traps will be showcased at the Claybank 2009 game. |

Actually in theory it would be a fair bit cheaper than the claymores.
From my understanding claymores are about 190$. A 203 shell is about 25$ - 80$ and the basis of the trap is just some scrap metal to mount it on and give it a trigger. So given the cheap grenade I could probably do it for 40$ each and it would be just as reusable as a claymore. My thoughts were more the collateral damage that could be caused. I haven't been hit by a 203 shell so I am not sure how much they hurt, given a trip wire situation you would be at best 3-4 feet away when it goes off. Amos: Hopefully I can make it out to that game and have one of these done so we can compare. Last edited by Staverous; March 14th, 2009 at 19:03.. |

I've been hit by a 203 at almost point blank range...There is no way in hell it is above 200FPS ...if that. A 203 shell in a tube and a triggering device is a actually a really good idea. This got my creative juices flowing.

Thats good to know, cause that was my biggest worry was that it would be something that would be dangerous.
Would this change the way some games are played, since there would be a new aspect to it? If so what would change? |

I've had the pleasure of being a guinea pig for Amos's trip wire. Yeah. Set up sneakily, they'll be effective, and, from what I seen, freaking cheap. Since I got a more defensive weapon, I'll be buying a few from him.

Only thing that it would change for me, is in attacking. I'll just die more. You can't be looking around for trip wires in the middle of an assault.
