I got a few boxes of the King Arms 68 rounders that seem to run well in my VFC 416 & SCAR L.

For the price, King Arms mags are great. They're metal and hold a good number of rounds. Be aware that sometimes they have feeding problems but the solution is quite easy (and has been posted on ASC numerous times). STAR also makes good, tough mags for quite cheap but they're plastic and are low caps which some people have an issue with.

It depends on exactly what your emphasis is on and also the manufacturer of the gun. Obviously TM mags work best in TM guns, CA mags in CA guns, etc. I haven't heard of any problems with Star mags in anything. Mag mags seem to be the affordable choice for metal mags along with King Arms, no one really sings their praises but no one complains about them either.
If you want metal then MAG, TM and CA mags are good but expensive. If you want the realism of exactly the same number of rounds as the real steel then you're going to have to go with Star. Star is the only manufacturer that I know of that makes realcap mags, unfortunately they're plastic but they're still really tough. I'd stay away from King Arms mags unless you get them for a steal cause they tend to have feeding issues. Yeah, it's fixable, but why bother when you can buy mags that work right out of the box. I've been using King Arms 68 round metal mags in my CA M15, JG HK416 and custom C8, and they're always worked without issue. With basic maintenance (occasional light lubrication), they alway feel reliably right to the last 2-3 BBs, which is normal for King Arms. Their follower protrudes farther out of the mag than most other brands, so you only end up with 2-3 BBs that don't feed instead of the 5-6 with other mags. And they're quite affordable too.
If you want cooler looking mags, then definitely the Magpul ones are the way to go, but they also cost more. So it all depends on how much you're willing to spend and the look you're going for.
