1911 Metal Body - What are my options?
I like the colt or springfield ones, but the problem is all I see are parkerized grey ones. I prefer black, but from what I've seen Guarder, PGC, Sheriff, etc.. only make grey except for the Kimbers and more modern 1911s.
Any ideas? |

For what make of 1911?
If it is a Western arms the only limit would be your imagination and wallet. |

If you get a good metal slide, nothing stops you from changing the finish using products meant for real handguns.
Grey/parkerized is popular for good reasons; durable, rust resistant, non-glare finish, etc. The more information you provide about your gun, the better the answers will be. |

KJW1911, which already comes with metal slide and frame.

Do you guys like the parkerized grey finish of Guarder kits over glossy black on the kj?
Do you guys like colt trades or springfield more? |

Interesting, some WE does that, too.
I prefer Parkerized grey and Colt trades, but it's your gun.

The grips I'm running (in that pic) are WWII vintage wood ones, dunno how they'll look on a grey Guarder kit.
Why the hell does the slide crack off there of all places? |

The notch for the thumb safety is most likely to blame, as it reduces support for the very rear tip.

I shouldn't have that problem with the Guarder metal bodies?
I assume they're alot stronger than KJ eventhough both are diecast? Do you think it would look weird to reuse my black outer barrel in a grey body? |

You shouldn't have that problem with aftermarket bodies, but they're not perfect either. The more you pay, the better they are.
TM has a black outer barrel in a grey body and it looks fine.

AFAIK, Guarder slides and frames are CNC machined aluminum.

I read that Guarder ones are die cast.

According to Guarder's own website, they're aluminum.
