How to apply Linseed Oil correctly ?

How do i apply Boiled Linseed Oil correctly ? So do i rub in and let it sit for 30 to an 1hr then wipe off ? Thanks

Prepare your stock by removing any existing finish. Work your way up to 180 grit and give it a final sanding. Then use a rag to rub on the linseed oil. Wait 20 mins, wipe away excess and then put it away for a week. Come back in seven days and reassembly your garand.
