Discarding old guns
I hope I am posting in the right area. I have some old broken BB guns, and I was wondering how I should go about getting rid of them. They're just made of plastic, but to the garbage man who has never held a gun before, it may be a real gun and then an issue with the police. How shall I go about getting rid of them? All I've really thought of is taking them apart piece by piece, and then smashing the plastic shells into bits.

You can take them to the police station. You might want to leave em in the trunk and talk to the person at the counter before walking in with them.

Post them on the classifieds as freebies. You never know what stuff people will take if its free. Maybe someone here can make use of your broken BB guns.
