There are "working" versions of airsoft surpressors. For example the TM Mk 23s surpressor actully does reduce the retord of the gun. Muffle is probably a better word. Basically there are cylinder disks about an inch ( with a whole for a bb obviously in the middle) thick made out of soft foam in the surpressor.

Not really all that quiet as it is anyways. I've seen a few AEG's that are a hell of a lot quieter without any sort of mock silencer on them. Just the way they are built.

I thought the noise that an airsoft gun made was from the motor? For some reason ithought it was illegal to have a functioning silencer in canada for an airsoft gun.
I'd actually really like to look into this. Except the umg silencers have been out of stock for 3 years. Im assuming some custom work would have to be done to it as well. I really dig the change in sound of the bb firing tho. I like it muffled. Last edited by Rabbit; July 14th, 2010 at 23:38.. |

That's a pretty loud gun.
I should really record SCG's M14 firing... it's retardedly quiet. |

The suppressor I designed for my KSC M11A1 works incredibly well considering it's a loud gun to start with (GBB).
But most of the noise in AEG is in the gears turning and the sound of the piston slapping the cylinder head............ spin a motor without the gears involved and it's a small VRRRRRRRRR sound. Think about what you hear int he distance at games, what sound cuts through brush more, and you'll get an idea where the noise comes from and how to control it to a point. Supressor on an AEG only cuts back on the slight popping sound that comes from the muzzle after a BB leaves the end of the barrel, nothing more. And it doesn't silence that sound, it more of less just contains it in a lined tube so most of the sound is absorbed by the foam and contained by the shell. |

Their silencers usually do affect the sound one way or another. My M4 silencer makes the same sound with my AEG.

If you can find a silencer that has a big enough barrel to put foam and washers in you are good to go.
I haven't used it yet but I used piping foam as a replacement for the crappy thin foam my silencer came with. Its just big enough to let a .25 BB but I don't know if it will silence it or not. I'll post my feed back once I get my gun though. There is no way I've seen though to silence the motor. Last edited by Short Round; July 15th, 2010 at 12:48.. |

I had a G&P zombie killer silencer that i bought off airsoftparts for my TM G17, and it was waaaay more quiet when i putted the silencer on. It was working with 1 inch foam inserts with spacers, and it was working really well, i was surprised when i shot it at first lol.

Ok first off TECHNICALLY they would be illegal but it's just that airsoft grey area.
Second the silencer (not suppressor ![]() In outdoor games you can hear someone's AEG making a rapid fire popping sound when being fired (I LOVE that sound ![]() |

There's several ways to make an AEG whisper quiet...
It's all about choosing the right parts selection. |
