Canadian Tire Silicon used in midcaps?
Can you use Canadian Tire silicon 'spray' to lubricate mid cap magazines? Specifically the Motor Master one and the 3 in 1 silicon spray in the yellow and black label. Thanks in advance!

Canadian Tire Spray Silicone Oil contains petroleum distillates, which is likely to swell your hop up rubber.
That's why this stuff is advertised as "great for window gaskets", because it swells the rubber while lubricating it, making the rubber seal so great once this stuff is sprayed on. It's almost melting the rubber. In airsoft guns where the hop up rubber is in a relatively tight tolerance, swelling the rubber wouldn't be a great idea. I've destroyed classic airsoft with this stuff, whose plastics were very sensitive to this oil. Also damaged hop up rubbers with this spray oil. If you decide to use this, do so at your own risk. Generally, you don't need a spray, as a swab on your cleaning rod is enough to get a couple of drops of pure silicone oil through the system. Drip oil is much less difficult to acquire, as most sprays are a form of compressed gas and can only be shipped via surface mail. As such, there are also more Canadian retailers carrying the drip stuff than there are carrying the sprays.

You mean real steel gun lube?
NO, do not use that. It has a high petroleum content. |

Alright. So if i do get this Canadian Tire Silicon, put some on a swab and lube my midcaps, make sure their is no excess, I should be alright? If i run bbs through it for awhile, just loading them and unloading them, until they come out clean, free of any oil?

really. you can use any 100% silly oil from your local hobbie shop. 10wt, 20wt, 25wt etc... would all be fine. not that I'm not telling you to support ASC Mart or Airsoft Innovations...

Also just so you know another option is to buy normal light weight oil (such as the great AI stuff) and put it in a manual pump spray bottle (avaliable at craft stores). |

And where do the BB's pass through as they're fed through the gun? Right, the hop up rubber. It's already been mentioned that you DON'T want this oil on your hop up rubber. If dog poo transferred to your shoe, would it be safe to lick the bottom of your shoe since you're not licking directly from the original pile? LOL. |
