any old 12 gram Co2?
Hey. Im sorry if this has been asked before but, can one use any old 12 gram co2 cartridge for a semi auto Pistol? I am currently paying a buck a cartridge and i asked why they were that price and the seller said it was because they had a Name Brand Logo (Daisy, Crosman). Ive seen Co2 at some stores and you can buy packs of 50 for about 25-30 bucks.
Is there any harm or disadvantage with using those cheaper generic 12 gram cartridges? Thanks in advance. |

Re: any old 12 gram Co2?
I get the from paintball stores during their big sales times. Usually in the 50 cents range and no need to buy in bulk 50 packs.

I went to 3 Canadian Tires recently and none had the Co2 for sale. The clerk at one told me that they no longer carry them. BS perhaps?

I have two Canadian Tire stores nearby (in Richmond, B.C.); one always has a full stock of CO2 cartridges (5/25/50-packs), the other doesn't seem to carry them at all. Which is odd, as they both sell CO2-based pellet guns & softair/crapsoft.
![]() I find the pricing frustrating; $8 for 5, $23 for 25, or $30 for 50. Hell of a markup if you just want a few cartridges. (Or, I suppose, a hell of a markdown if you want lots.) |

just because it's on the website, doesn't mean all stores have to carry it. look at the store availability box. select your store location and check for yourself. 2 locations near me says to call for availability. another location is out of stock. |

Get a propane powered gbb and stop wasting money on co2

All my pistols run on propane; even the lil' WA M84FS cheetah, which has been firing strong since '04.
![]() My friend's M136/AT-4, however, uses a full 12g CO2 cartridge per shot. ![]() I'm in the middle of prototyping my own M136 based loosely on his design; trying to decide whether to use cartridges or an internal CO2 (or HPA) rig. Cartridges seem easiest; consistent velocities without messin' about with gauges. Refillable tank would be cheaper though, and add the possibility of adjustable velocities. Propane is out of the question; the volume of gas used per shot would pose somewhat of a hazard to a chainsmoking user (i.e. me). And I always thought a CO2 powered semi-auto sniper rifle with blowback would be cool. |
