Got My AEG, what optics should I get?
I ordered my AEG last week and it finally arrived today.. G&G R16 R4 Commando. i was surprised that it came with a foregrip i was gonna buy one and i prob will still but the grip t comes with is pretty good.. Now i am just wondering what sort of scope i should get with it..
3 comes to mind acog reflex red dot/green dot Now i will prob won't be doing too much indoor mostly outdoor but just wondering on the thoughts of what scopes you all use and what you find works best...

I love my ACOG on my 416 for both indoor and out. It's all personal preference, some people hate magnified optics period as in airsoft you never engage at ranges requiring them but they are great for seeing if your missing/by how much your missing. Reddots/holosights are all around great plus you can get a magnifier for them to make them even more multipurpose.

I'm still up in the air with it. Maybe i will just get a few and have them for different purposes.. I'm pretty stoked though..

Honestly its just preference. I personally like using holosights. So pick one that will look cool on your M4 :P They all do the same function.

ACOG's make everything look good, get a 4x32 though, if you want just the RDS ACOG then buy an aimpoint comp M2 replica

...you could just try the ironsights. The only one of my 5 AEGs that has optics is my P90 TR.

Yeah, don't ever overlook iron sights. I game my M16 with just iron sights and aside from being difficult to see in low light, with practice they are just as good as a reddot.

learn with iron sights. chances are you'll 'walk' your BB's to the target by sighting down the barrel anyway. this way you can save some money and get something really good later on.

I got a Hurricane Eotech for my first upgrade and it is super awsome, best thing I ever bought for my gun (CA SCAR.)

Iron sights never fail, are never out of battery power, are always there.
Aimpoints are great. The newer clone magnifiers are not bad at all. With a quick detach base they can be secure and put on/taken off quick. I must note this though...if you are going to buy clone 30mm mounts for your magnifier and aimpoint...buy two of the exact same mounts, same brand, same style. I've got a box full of mounts and very few combinations line up perfectly. Either the height is off a bit (close but off), or the centerline alignment is out. |

I agree with the others here. Iron sights, No doubt about it.
I'm the type of person that'll simply leave guns plain as pie. Only exceptions are sniper rifles, but even then i'm working up iron sights for them. I just find them a lot more easier to aim with. Depending what kind of iron sight it is. Iron sights don't block your feild of vision as some optics do, or distort it with the magnification of a scope. Sure, magnification is helpful, but thats why you just carry a small pair of binoculars or a monoscope with you to do the same job. No need to seek out targets through optics when you can simply line up your sights on them. Only optics I use these days are whats on my sniper rifle and whats built into my G36. But that is soon to change. |

I use a Huang Aimpoint Comp M2 replica.. works great very little to no ghosting... and is a pretty tough little sight... awsome eye relief too..

I'll look into that scope. I am down with the iron sights and all and i know how to shoot. I just think quick scoping is a lot better then focusing down the iron sights..

Try actually going to a game and seeing how you like the iron sights first
