Wilcox joints develop wobble over time, and their dovetail interfaces are meant to wobble a small amount.

How much wobble are you getting?

The lockup between the base which is permanently attached to your helmet and the breakaway, once it's in the locked position, should be solid.

There may be some up/down play in the swing arm mechanism though, which is common with Wilcox mounts over time.

That's "normal" but 5mm is a lot and your mount is likely quite old or has has a few impacts against it

If you don't care about the wobble then just leave it. You won't "lose 4k" because your mount is wobbly.

The L2G05's retention system is much more mechanical and provided your release lever hasn't broken off (common issue) then I wouldn't be too concerned. You may still want to dummy-cord your NOD though.

Dummy cording your NOD basically means tying it to your helmet with some 550 cord, shock cord, or something similar. In the case that your mount were to fail or break away, your investment wouldnt plummet to the ground and break.
