Whats the safest orange tip removal method?
Hey there. Just got a Tanaka Single Action Army in today.
![]() As you can see, its got orange-tip-itis. The outer barrel is a 'Heavyweight plastic' and i'd really like to keep the finish consistent with the removal of the paint. Whats the safest means to get rid of it without sanding it off, or painting over? Thanks. |

I had the same question. I've looked all over the internet, and I've been told that model car paint remover, nail polish remover, boiling the part in water and brake fluid (not cleaner) are all options.

I don't know where one can get the paint remover mentioned in this thread, but apparently it works very well with plastics:
http://www.airsoftforum.com/board/Kw...&mode=threaded I googled, but the company doesn't ship to Canada. |

First, acquire these items;
-small bottle of ISO32 oil -Hacksaw -pair of oversized, uncomfortable welding gloves that are kinda burned so the fingers are sort bent backwards -A 6" vice -aluminum jaws CNC machined to the form of your pistol -Lawn darts -Mitutoyo digital micrometer accurate to at least .00005" Once you've acquired all these items, follow these simple step by step instructions; 1) Give the pistol to a gundoc and ask him to remove it for you 2) go play with your lawn darts while you wait |

dollar store nail polish remover.
to restore the look of the plastic, use regular silicone oil, rub down where the orange used to be. |

I just used acetone on my KWA USP, which had a plastic outer. It wiped off very easily and left the plastic completely untouched.

Russ, go get the hammer.
Clark, What do you need a hammer for? I am going to catch it in the coat....and smack it with a hammer!

if its a steel, black oxide barrel and the orange is only paint, acetone will instantly remove that.
