Glad they conned the con man but... Peoples who fall for internet scams like this are fucking stupid and deserve to be lighten from their money.

I would see if you could get his phone number. Ask to speak to him on the phone.
Once you go it, do a reverse look up. And yes, some scammers will actually give a phone number but quyickly disconnect it after the scam is complete. (But its still traceable.) If this actually got serious, you could email his email provider (gmail, hotmail etc), and request IP information for the sender. Then with that, do an IP look up. Eh.
