RC car batteries= Airsoft batteries?
I was looking at my local hobby store and came across some 9.6v 1600mah ni-Cd batteries. I was wondering if these will work in an airsoft gun. They seem rather small compared to the handful of airsoft batteries I have seen. Is it just a bigger punch is a smaller package?

How long would a 1600mah expect to work? Like how many shots would I get roughly ?

From what I've read, 1000mAh per 500-1000 (up to) shots (depending on the quality, temperature, and other variables).

Volts and mah are not the only thing to look for. Discharge rate (C) is important too. Just because it has 9.6v and 1600mah, if it has 5C discharge rate... it won't pull the gun over.
Just a heads up. A 7.4v lipo at 1600mah and 20C can EASILY pull over a 400fps gun at 19 rounds per second for a full game day.

7.2v won't do anything for an airsoft gun. Also, most airsoft guns with small tamya connectors have the polarity reversed. Check out www.cheapbatterypacks.com for batteries, and get the NPT smart charger from www.airsoftparts.ca or BBBastard.

you should invest in a proper airsoft battery or a lipo setup... etheir way you wont regret it...

1600 mAH 8.4 lasts my one gun all day.
It's all about shooting when you need to, and shooting at the right thing. Plus taking care of your battery is essential, a good charger will do you great.

I'll rephrase.. most 7.2v won't work to well. Depends on the battery and your setup. On the up side, batteries designed for R/C are usually made out of cells that can handle a high discharge rate... at least the good ones are anyway.
