Howeverm CBSA agent can still seize it, which you can promptly dispute it, if you dont like the dispute you can goto tribunal. However, all this cost money & time, and if you're undersge, good luck in court.

I think this grey area will go on till the end of time, While on a shopping trip this past weekend across the line (WA state) I found myself in a sporting goods store! go figure eh! when drooling over all there "black guns" for 50% THE COST here in BC, I noticed the section of airsoft! the clearsoft springer's same as wal-mart and CT, But for $14-$19.99!
As you might imagine an old time airsofter with a closet full of TM,G&P and CA or not, I was totally interested...but the lingering thoughts of the boarder got the better of me! I also notice beside them were full on replicas of all top line real steel pistols, they were all BB or pellet guns but looked and felt like the real thing, while crossing the boarder I asked the middle aged, mild mannered, sensible looking guard what was the deal, I went on to tell him I found these clear BB guns same as CT and Wal-Mart but for a fraction of the cost, could I bring one back? he told me very calmly, you can bring back ANY BB or pellet pistol or rifle any color you like, as long as it shoot under 500fps..oh... unless it is those airsoft things! none of them are aloud, period!
Now I felt like arguing the black and white about, the danger of a 500fps steel BB as opposed to a 220fps plastic one!! or the threat of a full on black Glock 17 pellet pistol as apposed to a clear plastic, red tipped pistol that a transformer robot might carry!! but what is the use..preaching to the quire!
As mentioned before by an other member, I am in the Military and at times are let in to inner circles of the law enforcement also, I do not think the stereotyping of the word AIRSOFT will leave, it will be a trigger word for red lights in the law enforcement until every aspect is on the table and an SOP is passed federally! maybe a world wide name change from airsoft to something more puppy and kitten like " wind puff plastic dispenser" or something? but when Canada and only a couple other counties face the same import problems the manufacturers are not going to be to worried about that.
