we tried the super kleen method... didnt work worth a shit, i dunno where we went wrong, could you describe how to do it safx? prolly because it was several layers of quality modle paint airbrushed on? we tried the brake fluid method and that actually worked well. we didnt let it sit long enough though, but we would have had the desired results if we did.

Would this method (brake fluid) work with a painted AK stock? I have one that has been painted black, is it possible to make it take off only the black layer and still retain the wood grain color of the original plastic stock?

Go to a model store, and ask the best methods they have had. Those are the guys to talk to. If it's airbrushed on with good paint and most likely a clearcoat, you might have to take a bunch of stabs at it to get rid of all the layers. If it was primed before hand, that makes a huge difference as to how easy it is to get off.

Sorry for the thread revival, but I have a question about the brake cleaner method. Is it ok to have a bunch of parts, stacked in a bucket, or should it be done individually?

well.... for information multiple stuff in a tub worked. I reccomend you leave items in there for at least 4 hours, although it works faster on metal than on plastic. I'll post before and after photos later

Use Testors ELO model paint remover... I used it on my old MP5 and it worked like a charm... doesn't mess up the plastic and get the paint off super nice...
check my sale thread to see the results... there's a picture of with paint and then of paint removed..
