sorry, i'm not sure what the differences are as this was the first src m4 i got intimate with. it had some potential issues, but for under 300 bucks i didn't expect too much. i was suprised by the mechbox though, being a reinforced job.
i scanned a copy of the "options" catalogue into my computer but couldn't post it up here (too old to learn new computer tricks). it shows 2 models of m4, 1 with crane stock and 1 without. the unit i worked on has a 6 position stock. |

Would you guys pick this or the UTG MP5 up?
Whenever either of these hit the buy/sell, I'm buying one for the sole purpose of fawking around with it, and just playing stupid. Killing two hundred bucks, I can live with. Killing six hundred (cost of my ICS), I'll be shedding a few tears.

I'd go M4...higher stock FPS, more value, etc...
Costs more though and you only get the M4 and a 300 round HiCap. The UTG comes w/two mags, battery, charger, you know the deal... |

I'm new to airsoft but I bought both the UTG MP5 and the SRC M4. From the shooting I've been doing with both I can say that I prefer the M4. It definitely shoots noticeably harder and the finish is nicer (ie. the fire selector switch works nice and tight on the M4, and a bit sloppy on the MP5 and the plastic rear sight on the MP5 is pretty cheap). I have noticed the barrel wobble on the M4, but from what I've heard the TM's have the same problem. The price difference was significant though as I paid $249 plus tax for the MP5 and it came with the battery, charger, 2 mags and both a collapsible and fixed stock; while I paid $299 plus tax for the M4 and one mag. I paid an additional $159 for a starter pack for the M4 which included a spare hicap mag, smart charger, battery and some BB's.
I chose to go with the UTG and SRC guns as I was on a budget and I wanted to get 2 guns so my wife could come out to a game if she wanted. After playing around with both for the past couple weeks I kind of wish I'd spent the extra couple hundred bucks and just bought 2 of the SRC M4's. That's my 2 cents, for what it's worth. But I still haven't had them out in the field so I have no idea what kind of reliability to expect. Wayne |

I haven't tried adjusting it yet. I was switching between the MP5 and the M4 and I could definitely see the BB's curving with the MP5 so I adjusted the hop-up on it, but the M4 was shooting pretty flat at the same range (about 50 ft) so I didn't want to mess with it.
The MP5 hop up is really easy to adjust, but I had a really wild shot with the MP5 while shooting indoors because of that. While installing the battery, I must have pushed the hop-up lever, because I put a nice dent in the living room drywall about 3 feet higher than the target and my backstop. The wife wasn't very happy about that. ![]() |

Can someone tell me if it is compatible with TM mags, Star mags, or CA mags? And can someone post some detailed pictures please?

From what im reading the internals suck ass in these. Can any of you verify that? I was reading posts about the crane stock ones too and they didnt look to good. They say the gears basically chew themselves up. No big deal really just need to order some new gears im just wondering so i know if i have to.

gears are exact copy of tm. mechbox was a reinforced 6mm in the one i worked on barely 2 weeks ago. bushings are abs as well as the cylinder head. those are the only things to really change out as a matter of reliability. the spring, spring guide, cylinder, switch are basically tm. the piston is different as the piston head screw is easily removable without that pesky cap that tm uses. they used good lube throughout and the one i worked on was well shimmed.

imo it seems utg mp5 is better deal (for usa's price of $100) with all the stuff mp5 comes with...moreover m4 is just overly common nowadays

Are the gears as strong as tm's. The main problem im hearing is them eating themselves apart.
