I've got a question. Is there a reason the stock on the SVD looks the way it does? Does the design of the stock serve some sort of purpose?

Although if you search google for images of the SVD you'll notice MANY different types of rear stocks. http://www.dragunov.net/ |

I still think the G&P gas version is better, but at the ridiculous price they charge for it, this is totally a better option.

At least it's realistic lol
As it states on that page, the problem with gas being the temperature its run in. Too cold and your Dragunov becomes a club. At least as an AEG, you dont have that to worry about. |

im not a fan of AK stuff, but even i want one of these. though truthfully id rather they or a company like CA (preferably) make a full metal/wood Gewher 43 AEG. still, i would definitely consider picking one of these up assuming the price is competitive.

i dont play in the winter. its not good for AEG's either. And gas rifles are more veritile than most people think. They work from like (5-10*C)-anything. as for them not being consistent, i would disagree. i think they are quite adequate. use gas for summer/spring/early-mid fall. Last i checked that is almost half the airsoft season (for me anyway). Anything else, if you want to brave your AEG in the extreme cold, be my guest. I just think as a sniper platform, gas allows you to use high power without the added worry of putting extreme stress on your internals such as with AEG sniper rifles or even spring versions. plus with spring, you have the problem of cocking your gun back. too powerful = too hard to cock back and boom! you gave away your position. just my thoughts though.
