I think the M4s in CS fire from an open bolt, why else would they pull back on the forward assist knob? It's a rearward assist

Custom weapons skins and animations are a must if you play CS:S.

The default guns all look terrible, but the M4A1 takes the cake for being completely retarded.

In CS:S the character pulls back on the charging handle, not the forward assist.

Airsoft guns cannot shoot that far. Most of our airsoft weapons cannot even make it to 1/2 of the real M4 firing range, and M4s are assault weapons in the real combat world.

I would rather play assault. Being mobile is fun. I am not saying that sniping is not fun. I used to do pellet gun target training but it was some hard time. It takes a LOT of practice to be a real good sniper i.e. totally different from video games.

Anyways, it is just my opinion.

Lol, all our airsoft weapons can't make it to 10% of the effective range of an M4.

Sniping isn't for everyone, play a few games as a rifleman and do some research on sniping, the guns and equipment. Talk to some of the players on this site on their sniping experiences and then make a final decision on if sniping is what you want. If you attend a game and there is a player who's going to play the team sniper, ask if you could shadow him or ask him questions. As well, there is a FAQ section, please take the time to read it. It is very informative and may answer alot of your questions.

Thanks for the reply mongoose. i agree with you totally, sniper rifle is not the best choice for a first gun. I am planning on getting something along the lines of an M4. I want the sniper rifle mainly for shooting in the backyard or in my shop, untill im ready to snipe on the field. And those crappy tire guns are garbage, but make for great fun at work when theres nothing to do. myself and another fellow, had a little relay course setup the other day, good times.

Maybe in the new CS, in the old versions they're cock the rifle using the forward assist somehow.

I'm going to say the pre-requisite "be extremely careful what you do with your guns" in consideration of the public and the police. Make sure that there is no chance of someone mistaking your intentions with your airsoft gun (this means playing in the yard or at work is a big no-no).

Anyways, "practicing" to be a sniper has a lot less to do with effective shooting and a lot more to do with effective fieldcraft, especially considering the relatively short ranges airsoft works on. I would recommend forgetting about purchasing a sniper rifle altogether (even though I just got one ) and play 'sniper' with your AEG. Limit yourself, maybe semi only, carry only 10 rounds in a magazine, see how often you are seen and why. This will teach you more about airsoft sniping (and airsoft in general) than any practice you do on a range. Once you're comfortable limiting yourself to being outgunned in every way with your AEG, then you can buy a sniper rifle and ACTUALLY be outgunned in every way, except for a slight increase in range and consistency. If not, then hey, it's always fun to go in hard and fast with an AEG.

I use my old Daisy BB gun from 1944, it was given to me by my dad. I actually field it against my buddies at my private games. It does about 130FPS, but it's really consistent. And can't even penetrate a set of wal-mart paintball goggles at point blank range. So it's more than safe. They say it hurts less than my P90. But it's far more accurate and has better range than my AEG's. The only issue is having to take into account the ballistic trajectory. Gotta aim really high to hit a target at 100 feet.
