It's a well-known fact that plastic is 38.2% less tactical than pot metal.

Pot metal can be tactical.... if heated, and thrown at someone.. ![]() No, seriously... TMs in their stock form are pretty bad. Especially the ARs without a FFB. God damn... When I first got my TM (jan '07) , I immediately bought a metal body... couldn't stand the plastic. And it being an early version M4 didn't help much either.. |

I prefer the feel of the metal C8 body over the stock TM M4A1 body. But even when it was stock and I compared it to my metal CA M15, it still felt decent. I wouldn't have worried about breaking it. However, once you go metal, it's hard to return to plastic.

Plastic is fine
I have one M4 that is over 7 years old and still working fine.
All my guns have plastic bodies, you can paint them and scratch them and never have to worry about it. Everything else in the guns is upgraded but I still use the plastic bodies. I have elminated all barrel wobble on my old M4's with the screw down pins used with rubber washers. It tightens the plastic body and holds the barrel in a tight grip. I also used Bruce's barrel wobble kit, but the guarder screw in body pins did more than anything to eliminate that issue. Function over looks for me and all of mine work just fine. MD

I'll take the liberty to recommend silk scarves instead of regular police handcuffs. Oh, and scented candles.

Plastic is fine so long as your not rough with it, don't drop it on cement floors, and don't strip the threaded holes lol

I agree. The m14 and g3 have done just fine. The g3 creaks like a bitch but other than that she's great. I've got the mp40 that is steel and it's nice, but right now I can't justify the cost for a metal body for the g3. It will all happen in time.

My custom TM M4A1 still has its plastic body (painted flat black). It looks fine and I will only change it if it breaks.
Also, with the metal SIR hanguard, Systema gearbox shell, aimpoint replica and clamped metal mags, it's heavy enough for me. |
