It might have been written when there was a KSC hiatus, and the guy is a dumbass. Ah, damn it. I just got my new GBB today, I was hoping to not open it up until I've gamed it at least twice. Ah well, figure out how to do it early, I guess.

I've wondered this about AEG's, but will JG gearboxes with external batteries(PEQs) hold up to the same test?

if the battery connection comes into direct contact with water it will short or blow a fuse thats just electrical law....lol but if your sporting an open railsystem with a front wired gun you might wanna rap the connection in electrical tape or rubber tape an added plus would be seal you battery off in a ziplock bag. good to go! 8)

Well H20 isn't conductive at all, so I'm going to have to say no.... Just don't go using your AEG in salty or dirty water and you should be fine lol
External or internal battery doesnt matter, if it's underwater it's underwater. If your really paranoid, wrap the handguard in plastic wrap (NOT the battery itself, that just submerges it when the plastic wrap fills with water) |

One thing about the mentions of metal, there is very little steel in airsoft guns (as far as outer parts go), so therefore nothing to rust. BUT, because pretty much all metal outer parts are potmetal, you will get an oxide buildup on them which shows as greyish white splotches which are hard if not impossible to remove without affecting the black surface.
My recommendation, one past WD-40, buy gun oil and wipe/brush it on your metal parts regularly. It'll absorb into the metal and form a good barrier against moisture and water, and best part is, you can pinpoint where you want the protection, without the overspray onto plastic parts you'd get with WD-40. I've used gun oil on my hand-forged high carbon steel axe head the past while, and not a spot of rust (it'll rust easily) on it yet. |

+1 Will never dunk my guns but it's nice to see somebody else do it and be fine. though, NEVER fire an AEG under water, you don't want the cylinder to fill up with water as then you will cause damage.

Anyways, most AEGs with metal parts will suffer one way or another if exposed to rain and either aren't prepared beforehand, or left in a case afterwards without thorough drying.

Rain....
Just play, if we waited for no rain out here on the wet coast we would never play. Years of rain from drizzle to heavy stuff has had very little effect on any of my AEG's, pistols and gear.
When you get home take your guns out of the cases make sure the surface is dry and LEAVE them out of the case for a couple of days. Before they go back make sure your case foam or case if it is a soft case is good and dry. Googles will get wet, so carry a cloth or old piece of towel to wipe them while you are in the field, fogging is no worse than any other warm humid day. Oh bring dry clothes and shoes for post game. |

my only concern for playing in wet weather would be if the area you're in has a lot of smooth round rocks, as they tend to get quite slippery, and falling chest first is a good way to destroy your favourite hi-cap mag on your M4 or AK.

First time I ever played airsoft, it was in one of the biggest rain storms iv seen in B.C. and all my guns are A-OK
