Double Eagle

I have a friend who just recently bought what I'm pretty sure is a Double Eagle M83

http://img148.imageshack.us/img148/5562/m83tb2.jpg

I didn't see the box in person.

What is Double Eagle like? Can someone with a DE M83 play alongside what we use? (TM, CA, ect...) I mean the gun was like 100$ (in America) and comes with an RIS, RDS and laser. I can't find any reviews of them here at ASC and other reviews I find online I don't trust.

DE is a very low quality brand. I had a few a while ago and they were quite flimsy, really only good for display.

some of the crappier chinese guns around. I remember somewhere the Double eagle Kalashnikov had crappy externals and questionable internal parts.

Double Eagle do have metal internals. It's just your average low-end Chinese stuff. I have the DE M86 AK 47. Internally speaking, it worked fine. 20k rounds though it and still works fine. Shot about 280-300 with .2s.

However, the externals are made of a really brittle, weak plastic and will break very easily. For a gun for plinking, this would work fine, I guess. When it comes to enduring abuse in the field, I don't see it surviving.

I have a DE AK47, I will let you know how it performs in a day or so. I will be using it in an OP tomorrow. This is what is on the box... metal gears and frame... hi torque motor... 105 m/s / .12g BBs. It shoots fairly good. I have put about 5000 rounds through it. No problems with the internals.
The externals, well we will see how they hold up tomorrow. I have added some foam in areas, and tightened everything up, and it is not too bad for feel. Not very flexy, or creaky. I have had to fix a little white metal tab that held the whole front set in place. It let go when I was out in the field. (my first field stripping) I suspect failure of part is from the sling, causing a side pull on the front end. No damage to gun other than this little tab(3/4" X 1/4") that fits in a slot on the outer barrell, broke up into 4-5 pieces. I handmade a new piece from better material, and repaired the front end no problem. I will now set up with a 1 point sling to remove stress on the front end.
The rear stock will be where it breaks if it does. It seems like the weakest spot on the gun externally.
It had a clear plastic reciever when bought. ( I painted it black) and a clear piece on the gas tube, also clear plastic,( painted it black also) The stock, grip, and foregrip are plastic, with a good quality, fake wood finish. Everything else is metal on it. Magazine is metal. Overall, it seems fairly good.
But tomorrow will be the first big test for it. I will be careful not to hit trees with it. LOL
Waiting for my ordered, CA HK53 A2. I wish I had it, and AK would be backup only.

Hahahahaha That is what I am thinking, How long will it hold together???
I have the exact same gun. I will let you know how long it lasts. Maybe I should start a pool???
I say it will hold up for about 3 hours of OPs, before I need to apply "bandages". LOL

Mine was resting on a stair and it fell (about 8 inches), breaking the stock off. And it's the actual receiver itself that broke, not the stock.

D'OH LOL T
The metal stub that enters the stock? Oh No, that does not sound very strong. I will be as careful as can be and stay away from trees.
It is destined to be a wall hanger/plinker anyway, The CA HK53 A2 will be put safely away.

I'm getting a DE SPAS-12 from Jeff soon and I'll post how it performs, internal and external.

I mainly got it because I adore the SPAS-12, not for it's quality (I knew DE was lowend before buying)

Hahahaha It lasted 6 hours, and the stock broke, it can be fixed but what a pain. It still worked, but it was taped up. LOL The internals are good, and it Chronied at 325/.12g....... for a plinker/ wall hanger, shooting the neighbors cat, when it's shitting in the flower beds, it is good. But if you plan on playing out in the bush regularily, get something durable.

If your gun breaks, WTF good are you for anything

The only reason it was used today, is because I haven't recieved my CA HK53A2 yet. 2 long weeks to wait.opcorn: Oh well next OP, new gun, and some new gear is on the way too, some multicam pieces, and a load bearing rig.

That is my report on the Double Eagle AK 47. Stay tuned for a report on the new gun in about a month.

I got it a few years ago through S.I.R. (now Cabellas) and it was $250. then.
Like I said, it is a good plinker/wallhanger, but if you are going to be working it hard, get something way more durable, trust me.

The only surprisingly worthy Double Eagle guns to get are the

DE M81 USP
DE M47 B2 Shotgun

they are decent in indoor games and are relatively cheap backups if your primary is out of commission
