MP5's which one to get?

I'm trying to do some research for a friend. He'd like to get an MP5 AEG but I don't know enough about them to be able to be much use in the advice department.

Criteria:
Cost: $350 max
Butt Stock: no preference
Body material: no preference
Accuracy: above average out of the box
FPS: enough for outdoor use
Externals: Doesn't have to be 1:1 or perfect replica
Internals: Reliability is key
Replacement parts: Reasonably readily available. Not like finding hen's teeth.
Mags: preferably compatible with other manufacturer's mid caps

G&G jumps to mind, Cyma seems reasonably priced... I'm trying to give him a bit of a ranking and could use some help from you MP5 users out there.

My friend bought a CYMA MP5 SD6 - the non-blowback version. It's surprisingly good.

The externals are wonderful. Metal receiver and sturdy. You can HK slap it all day too. Only downside is that it's a tiny bit heavy. VERY good price tbh at around $200.

The internals are quite good too. Gearbox has decent metal gears and a ball bearing spring guide. A new hopup rubber, nozzle, as well as the usual upgrades (AOE, air seal, shimming, radius, MOSFET, etc) will have it shooting perfectly. A SHS high torque & tightbore would be a great upgrade as well.

Just don't try and drop a lonex gearbox inside like I did for him. After an afternoon of filing the receiver and gearbox, I managed to make it all fit and shoot beautifully - but DAMN.

SRC All Steel Stamped SD6 is my favourite for AEG sake.
It is on-sale sometimes at 007Airsoft, should be your price range.

I had a G&G TGM-Q6 (MP5 SD6 model) was pretty slick out of the box. Comes with everything needed to get started as well, right on the $350 mark.

don't the g&g ones have proprietary nozzles? Otherwise I think the g&g would be ok. They do have awesome factory parts support if you can wait for parts from taiwan, but at least you can get them easily... just email amo @ g&g. lol.

When I was doing my search I was recommended the SRC by a number of people. the receiver is stamped steel, like the real one. I was not keen on SRC because they've been known for weird parts in other guns and sometimes quality issues.

CA and ICS came next in recommendations, the mx5 line from ICS is a simplified marui clone, you can separate it without splitting the upper in half like the marui. VFC gearboxes don't fit in the ics mx5 as an observation. :P I ended up trading for an ics I knew the history of.

I'm eventually going to get a g&g one. I hope they someday work their MARS system into an mp5

I'm not sure what the disassembly is like on some of the other MP5s, but I definitely enjoyed the ease of disassembly of the CYMA version. It's like an M4 for the most part. Pop the pin and the upper slides off I know some of them can be a real pain, but I'm not sure if that matters to you or not

definitely watch some disassembly vids of the various brands if ease of working on them is important to you. On the ICS it's also like an m4 to separate lower and upper, but the hopup and barrel can only be taken out if you disassemble the entire upper.

I've held a few G&G Full stock + Retractable, they are a bit heavy for my liking, but they feel really solid.

This is very helpful guys. He will never work on his own gun so the dis-assembly won't be a deciding factor.

Durability and performance will ultimately be important as long as the cost ceiling isn't breached.

The Top Tech concept of an already upgraded gun seems appealing from the minimization of the PITA factor.

This whole process would be a lot easier if companies were more consistent in the quality of one model of gun to the next. lol

I have a G&G toptech and besides the weight, they are damn heavy, it's a great gun with no upgrades and has run flawlessly.

I have also got a G&G TopTech, and a non-functional unknown...the TopTech is quite heavy...but is very well balanced.

Also, the blowback feature adds a very satisfying clack to the whole experience

Edit: It also feeds flawlessly from CA MP5 Midcaps.
