EBR camo job (first time using stencils)
Gun is an ECHO1 (KART rebrand) M14 EBR. I really recommend getting a TM as this was a lot of work to get to any respectable level. TM makes the best M14's bar none, CA and G&G are not nearly as nice. Anyway I was inspired by Bruces custom EBR paint job found here:
http://www.airsoftcanada.com/showthr...ight=bruce+ebr (page 5 has best pics) But I wanted something a little different and found some nice stencils at a local place called Wallacks art shop. This was the first test and I might be doing my P90 (currently has a tan lower) and/or my ICS M4A1 (stock and holosight only.) I didn't want something that looked weird or odd from a distance. Something that if you look quick just looks like a normal painted gun but closer up you see the awesomeness. I am waiting on a new outer barrel (the stock one wont take a tightbore as it has a much smaller than normal inner diameter on the outer barrel) but I assembled the painted bits to take some pics. On to the pics: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Thoughts? Opinions? |

Really nice. It's still camoflage, yet it's stylish.
I love the rifle as a whole too. And good lighting in your pics!

Very nice, kinda tribal like. Looks better than a lot of digital and striped jobs that I've seen around.

I got the EBR here on ASC used. I bought an ECHO1 rebrand and at the same time there was also a KART available (what ECHO1 rebrands.) The handguard is not designed to take a vert grip and I see a lot of pics where they put it ahead of the handguard bit. I found it to be VERY uncomfortable. You are supposed to be able to remove the handguard and have full rails under it but because that's where the battery goes its not there on the G&P airsoft versions (which this is a clone of, the King Arms EBR kit has full rails.) I found out the EBR issued to US Army troops actually has a permanently integrated vert grip in the handguard so with some Dremel work and a lot of JB weld I managed to permanently install it. Normally it would be more in the middle but I found it more comfortable where it is and I am still able to do quick reloads. A lot of people complain about EBR's being really heavy but I don't find that so at all, its hefty but nothing like an M249 or anything. The battery space was a little cramped and the handguard wobbled since there where only 3 tiny screws holding it on with the battery in so I cemented it in place and will be using an 11.1V LiPo PEQ that will be getting a similar camo job.
The ECHO1/KART EBR's are not so great and I needed to replace almost all the internals to bring it up to snuff. The motor wasn't able to turn over a 400fps spring without a 12V battery. The stencils are designed by Craig Fraser and made by a company called Artool. You can find them on practically any airbrushing site but I just used them with Krylon camo spray. They are fully solvent proof, I used lacquer thinner to clean mine off and it didn't seem to harm them at all. I just searched and found this one and kinda want to do another gun with it: http://www.aoeartworld.com/index.asp...ROD&ProdID=360 it looks more evil than the one I have. The lighting is a single Nikon SB-600 on commander mode slave with my D80. Bounced off of my white blinds about 2' behind (above in the pictures) the gun. Lens used was a Sigma 18-200, don't remember the F setting since I was playing around a lot with it but all the shots are taken at 1/60. Thanks for the comments!
