SORRY FOR THE NECRO

This happened to me and I was unable to find an identical replacement screw, so I tapped the hole at 8/32, and cut down a 3/4" screw to the correct size (about 3/16" longer than the stock screw). The stock brass washer sleeve still fits over a 8/32 screw and it's now capable of holding tighter than I could ever need.

The only problem is that due to the differences in the screw head, a new washer was required to hold everything tight together, causing the stock screw cover button to be unusable, so the screw head and washer are now visible. I painted the screw head and washer with krylon flat black and it looks great.

Total cost of repair:

8/32" x 3/4" screw: $0.15
8/32" washer: $0.03
Flat black paint: $???

If you have a few handy things lying around, like a tap set and paint, this repair might as well be free and works much better than the stock setup. If I buy another Kraken I might be tempted to do this as preventative maintenance.
