shimming is really important.
If you change the bushings you will probably have to shim the gears again -
Anyway the difficult deal is to have the gears sit tight enough so they don't wobble and get used faster or break, but loose enough so they still spin properly when the mechbox is closed.

9.6V means decent ROF, it also means that when the battery is fully charged, you get a bit more, so there is a risk of shredding the sector gear or the piston.

I'm personnaly running a 10.8 v with a stock piston (slowed down by helicoidal gears ) so the risk isn't THAT big.
you don't need that much power though , honestly.
My advice would be to throw in a steel sector gear and a polycarbonate piston just in case.
