Most replica 4x scopes that I have seen are fixed magnification.
Again RDS and Reflex sights are used to let you line-up your shots quickly or so you can "holosight" and use both eyes to shoot. If you line up the dot using your primary eye and then open your second, the dot will appear to float in mid air and you are able to shoot with both eyes open.
RDSs are used in real-life in CQB or anything that requires close-range shooting has has limited time to line up your shot.
For example. In Toronto anytime you see a picture of the ETF their guns are usally fitted with a reflex sight.
