Thanks for the replies everyone. I really thought the PEQ comes with an "illuminator" which I take to mean "flashlight". Does the G&P clone come with a flashlight? What exactly is an "illuminator"?

I am just starting out this hobby, and want to get my equipment right the first time. I don't want to waste time and money on junk that I will discard later.

May I ask: just what equipment is actually used in an airsoft match?

1) Laser pointers?
2) flashlights?
3) scopes?

I'm thinking with the short range of airsoft, and the way lasers and flashlights give you away, that much of this equipment are just dressing right? Or am I wrong? How is this equipment used in a match?
