I've found virtually no performance difference between the M4 and CQB-R. In fact, the CQB-R is probably a bit more accurate as I have spent more time on it last spring setting it up than I did with the M4 and have used pretty much exclusively since then.

I hear you on that and if the only option for those barrels wasn't over $300 I would likely have done it. Like I said, there were a few things that led me to get the PDI. I didn't like the idea of an M4 length in the M16 barrel. Something about the extra length of tube without the inner struck me as potentially affecting the bb, particularly on full auto with all that air swirling around in there. Also it allowed me to use he M4 inner that came with the M16 outer for a CQB upper. I bored out my old aluminum outer and cut it down, rethreaded the end and cut down the now extra inner barrel and presto, a cqb length barrel.
Also like I said, the performance differences I believe were beneficial but not enough to buy the barrel except in addition to these other reasons.
Definitely not considering the mess PDI did with the machining of mine (at least)
I'll have to check if there's an FPS boost to the longer barrel too.
