it might be that the o-ring is caught in the thread, the thread as I recalled is not a full thread(continuous) thread, it had 2 flats on the thread(maybe be useful if you were to remove the flashhider outdoor and got dirt on it, as this will allow the thread to be chased and cleaned....but I can see the o-ring to jam itself in that...
