yeah. the Tanaka M700 series gas guns can take propane just fine, They are built to withstand propane, heck, even minor usage of red gas. I suspect they reccomend you using hfc134a in their guns is to compensate for Japan's fps limits.
as for the Mauser Kar 98, many people reported breaking their gun with propane usage. its a very nice collectors piece, i reccomend you stick to hfc 134a, its powerful enough already.
