Try it out with a NIMH battery if you have one, atleast if you get a short and it heats up, you won't permanently damage the battery if you unplug it fast enough. Whereas with LiPo, if it gets hot even once, it's toast.
If your change doesn't fix it, look into rewiring your gun. And slap a fuse on that thing if you have the room! You should always have a fuse when running LiPos!
