i've had problems fitting in the 9.6 mini in my handguard as well. Some mini types have a plastic cap or added plastic at the ends to solidify the stacks and it's this added plastic that's making it just a hair too big too fit in properly. Some will fit some won't. However, a 9.6 intellect nunchuck battery lacks the added caps and fits in quite easily.
