Well I<ve been out of the Nam soft loop for a while (though never been able to participate in TFC...) but thought I'd give you a few tips on the MF kit since that's exactly what I had (still have)
Screw the buttpack, it was never worn, you have to remember these guys either ran recon mission or QRF stuff, so it's either Indig ruck or Trop.
Also, I've seen a few pics of MF with the standard M56 belt kit, but the most popular combination was the older BAR belt (the Korean vintage for the most part since it was OD). As for the canteen carrier, the 1940 (or 1910) are the way to go, (though I personnaly ran two M56 at the back of my BAR belt, found the 1910 too wobbly).

Get a boonie hat or at least camo beret (parachute material, TS)
I understand getting era correct kit is getting harder so here's a tip, lot of people run med ALICE pack with the frame removed, it's almost the same as the Trop (without the goddamned X frame digging in your back).
