Dummy Barrel/silencer question?

I am going for a black/de color scheme on my m4. and I was wondering something I am unable to find an answer for.

I know what a silencer does on a real rifle :) but on an aeg is one able to run the inner barrel? within a silencer?

I'd like to add a dark earth silencer to my barrel but don't want the gone longer, so I was thinking of chopping it a bit shorter and rethreading. But was unsure if I could do this and keep the same length on the inner.

pretty simple question I know. I just can't find a for sure answer, would like to know before buying.

I'm leaning to the yes, but would like some solid answers :)

Thanks

Shawn

Yes you can do either. Have a regular barrel that ends before the silencer for a little muffling action, or have an inner barrel run inside till the end of your silencer but not have any dampening. It doesn't matter,

Yes you can, you don't need to chop it off..

You can ask Huang and get an Element metal M4 barrel, and it's a 2 piece.
Gets you a 14" inch barrel and you can uncrew the front of the barrel and make it a 10" cqb barrel.

He doesn't want to make it shorter.

Unscrew the last 4" and throw on the silencer.

Sounds exactly like what he's trying to do. ;)
