wtf!!! BDU complaint/question

 So I went to my local army surplus and picked up some CADPAT and I noticed the pants and the shirt looked different in terms of colour and brightness. The pants looked normal but the shirt was slightly lighter than what some of my friends have. Either way its all they had so I bought it.

I played an airsoft game the same day within 10 minutes of buying the stuff and our hour later I started to sweat due to some heavy duty running. The game lasted close to 2 hours. So I get in the car to catch a ride home and I remove my shirt only to find that my under shirt is now HULK FUCKING GREEN and my arms are no better. Did I get ripped off? Did I cause this to happen? I didn't get them wet at all.. its just sweat.

Details? Was this surplused CadPat or some repro, and if so which brand?

AngelusNex June 11th, 2009 20:35

You got ripped. Army surplus store tend to sell shit stuff instead of the real deal and say it's real so that they can make the extra $.

I'm looking at it now. I can tell you I spent 59.99 on the shirt alone and it was $10 off. No brand name anywhere. "Made in Pakistand" 65% poly and 35% Coton. Thats not a typo "Coton"

Drake June 11th, 2009 21:10

Wow, sounds like some super bad quality knockoff.

IMO you got ripped.

lemegacool June 11th, 2009 21:15

you got me worried, i went check mine... 50/50 nylon coton and made in canada frontenac! ?? any good... seems good

btw whats wrong with "coton"

Mitchell12 June 11th, 2009 21:23

It's cotton isn't it? Yea frontenac is a reputable brand. It's not issue but it's not known to turn you "Hulk fucking green"

Yea seems like a good deal. I stay away from CADPAT myself. Dunno why.

Reckless June 11th, 2009 21:43

see if you can return it... or if you 'like' it... wash it a couple times.. it'll prolly fade to the same shade as the pants and the color running will be 'done'

but yeah it really appears that you got ripped off :(

FOX_111 June 11th, 2009 21:50

I avoid army surplus store for that reason. They tend to sell crap at a steep price. Praying on people ignorence...

Generally speaking, because I know of one or two that are very good.

Skladfin June 11th, 2009 22:21

lol... isn't this why you should always try it on before buying it?

Mitchell12 June 11th, 2009 22:24

One thing I do know is that matching CADPAT is hard to do. It's best to stick to one brand or all issue. That way you don't get the mix match.

I find that there are much better deals on good quality BDUs to be had on-line. Only downside is sizing, especially if getting something European (or from China, but that isn't good quality so os automatically excluded). With the dollar up around 0.90 US and the reasonable shipping from the US to Canada there are good options from the USA. I personally like Desert Deuce Surplus on Ebay...

BloodSport June 11th, 2009 22:26

is that the place down in Ferris by the Storage units?

If so theyve always sold crap at jacked up prices. Learned that the hard way back in the 90's.

Next time send ArmyIssue a PM here on the boards, and within a day or two he'll have a parcel at your door.
