M4's and Folding Stocks
 

I hope this thread will do better than the last one.

The possibilities atm are the folding stocks from G&G, Dboys and this brand on EbayBanned, which could be G&G as well, seeing as DBoys sells for around 25 bux when this one goes for 50 HK priced: http://ebaybanned.com/product_info.p...products_id=69

Thing is, with these types of folding stocks you must cut part of the receiver to fit them on.

One option is to buy the ICS folding stock (it has a buffer tube installed into it, so no cutting involved), which sells for around 110 dollars on Mach1: http://www.mach1airsoft.com/web/cata...om&id=80&cat=4

If I were to get the folding stock that doesn't come with the buffer tube (aka not the ICS/OA one) would this receiver adapter do anything? http://www.mach1airsoft.com/web/cata...om&id=64&cat=4

Questions for cutting:
1. Is it safe and easy to cut it, and cut it right?
2. After cutting, can crane stocks, stocks that come with buffer tube, full stocks for m4's be installed again?
3. If cut right, and installed right, do they end up wiggling and giggling more than the usuall metal spacing, because you had to cut?

You just have to cut the buffer tube is all, no problems with fitment.
I did this when I was going to make a 9mm ar sub gun.

But it looks sooooo unrealistic if you don't have it with the 9mm kit.

get a used buffer tube and cut that. or find one that someone cut too short.

what exatly will you have to cut? are you talking about the slot in the bottom or cutting it shorter?

I'm not entirely sure, it's like you have to cut it to fit the stock on

Just to confirm, you know that the buffer tube serves an actual purpose on the AR15 besides just sticking out, right?

i have an ics and i put i CA stock on mine and it was a bitch, the two little rails on that piece are too thick and i had to dremel them down. whats the make of the gun you are trying to put it on?

G&P reciever. Right now, I can only find two types of the folding stock:
Dboys style (includes G&G) and the ICS one, but the ICS is madly over priced

ive just fitted the top pictured dboys folding stock to my classic army m4a1.
the piece you cut is the guide that is part of the back of the reciever that goes in side the buffer tube.
this is cut down to about 5mm long off the back of the gun ,and the remainder then fits in the folding stock sleeve and is fixed with the supplied shorter screw.
even though you will cut most of the guide tube off the origional sliding or fixed stock can still be refitted with no problems.
i paid 25 pound for the dboy stock in the uk and it fits very well and is solidly made

a quick update, thinking on this if you didnt want to risk cutting your reciever you could find a short length of tube that would fit over the guide ,leave it a couple of mm short then fit your folding stock to the end of the guide tube. you would however then have to fit the origional long stock screw

This seems like an alternative I'm more comfortable with.
Is it just the normal buffer tubes?
Would I need to buy this long stock screw?

your origional sliding/fixed stock screw should be long enough for the second option.
the spacer tube could be either a cut down old buffer tube or just a bit of alloy tube that would fit over the guide. whichever way it should be cut short enough that atleast 4mm of guide is poking out the end to fit the folding stock to. when you buy the stock all will become obvious.
a word of caution though if your going to go the spacer route it must be cut perfectly square on the ends
