So? Another retailer in Canada is another retailer. We should welcome him with open arms, so long as he's legit.

fixed.

(seriously, as much as some people desperately want to believe JG is awesome, TM and CA are the mid-range standard)

Oh, I agree completely with you. JG is the best bottom of the rung, the "upper lower class" of AEG's. TM, CA, ICS... they represent the mid-grade. Of course, SYSTEMA tops it all.

However, I don't care what portion of the airsoft quality spectrum he focuses on - another retailer is another retailer, plain and simple. The more retailers, the more availability, the more competition... all good things, mate.

Oh i wasn't saying that was bad, personally I'm happy to see new stuff here in Canada, i was just informing him that Shootsoft doesn't carry the high end guns, thats not his market.

I wouldn't call JG low end, id call CYMC and stuff like that to be low end, at least JG has a metal gearbox, so thats where i pot it, there not the worst there not the best. there good starter guns, and they can keep up with the high ends but there no where near the best.

Well, as much as I agree that more retailers is a good thing, given that he's supposedly/apparently "done this right" and jumped through all the hoops to do this, I find it extremely unfortunate that it's being limited to the ass end of the spectrum.

Even as it is now, those JG guns are massively overpriced, IMO -- and even I'll admit those are the better ones from that lot. Go back a couple of years, and the average TM was about $500 (from ASC Armory, for example). But now we're looking at the clearly inferior JGs going for close to $400? Maybe that jives with the current overinflated figures, but I just don't think they're worth that.

Even TM, they had good internals (specially if you kept the power stock-ish, they'd last forever), but the bodies were prone to all sorts of issues; broken receiver tabs and none-too-rigid barrels on ARs, body flexing on G3s, snapping cocking handles on MP5s, lost butt plates on AKs, etc. And now the market is being flooded with guns that have lower all around quality.

They're less expensive, and I can appreciate some people's enthusiasm at being able to finally afford more stuff. Some of them even seem like they'd be great project guns (for someone like me), like those cheap all metal and wood AKs (I'd gut it in a drop in a good aftermarket mechbox and parts, and woot!). But this isn't what folks on a budget are getting them for, and I can't help but feel people are setting themselves up for a lot of disappointment in the long run, which would really be too bad.

Either way, if he's got the permits and all, why not put a bit of competition on the higher quality stuff, too?

It's a lower quality box, though. Check out the thread in General (the Shootsoft.ca one); Shakal (I think?) has a nice pic of a busted stock JG box. I've broken TM boxes, but I was asking for it (e.g., upgraded V2 in -20C weather), but when a factory box breaks like that, thats not cool.

Styrak January 27th, 2008 03:23

Why do you think JG's are "clearly inferior"? Have you ever handled one or used one? I'll admit that I haven't. But it sounds like they're quite a match for TM's, and sometimes better in some areas.

Jimski January 27th, 2008 11:09

I have seen those AEGs and they are awesome.
The feel is superior to TM and it's all metal bodies.

I wouldnt be surprised if an overall check on the recent china AEGs proved that they are now better than old TMs.

If they can get the right quality on a molded/machined body, I think they can produce the right internals too.
still, 700$ for a TM is anal-fragmentation and 350 for a JG is damn expensive, but hey, that's Canada :D

Brit ter January 27th, 2008 11:15

there is nothing wrong with JG,s ,Mine work great!
