Stop woodland from fading same as Cadpat?
 

Okay, so may seem like a stupid question but I want to be sure...
To keep my woodland camo from fading do I just do the same as cadpat?

It's not called fading, it's called experience.

On a more serious note:
1- I have never done this myself, but the first time your wash them there is trick involving salt to set the colors... What kind of salt? I have no clue.
2- Hang to dry;
3- Don't wash them... Ever!

What works well for pretty much every camo pattern and coloured fabric is as follows:

The first wash, add about a cup or so of plain white vinegar to the wash. (It's also good for removing the smell of sweat from clothes when they get older)

When you wash your stuff regularly:

turn it inside out.
wash it on cold.
use a gentle soap like Ivory, baby soaps, etc.
don't use soaps with phosphates.
liquid laundry soap is better than powder.
obviously, don't use bleach.
hang dry, then shove it in the dryer for a few minutes to get the wrinkles out if you need to.

The biggest thing that fades your colours is chlorine and minerals in the water. If you've got the green, put a water filter system on your washing machine hoses.

Just make sure to never mix vinegar and chlorine (I dont know why youd use bleach on cammo, but dont mix them).

Don't listen to HellRanger...it's a good idea to wash your kit everytime you use it!

Seriously? I was just thinking get a paper towel wet and wash out dirt/blood/grass/whatever stains that come on it, if it smells, then wash it? :D

Really cheap knock offs use cheap fabric, cheap dye, and do not prep the fabric properly before printing.... Setting the dye by salting the water ( this is called a mordent agent ) may improve the percistency of the dye... but really crap is crap... and it will fade anyway because it was not made to last.. but only to appear like the thing it is long enough to get your money into the till.

Don't buy repro...

Worse is putting bleach in with the dishsoap and hot water when you wash your dishes in the sink, holy freaking crap it's worse than cutting onions!!!

What kind of food do you eat that requires bleaching your dishes? :D

Actually bleach for dishes is good to remove stains (like coffee and tea stains in mugs and stuff).

As for the BDUs, avoid detergents with optical brighteners, too, if you're using newer NIR treated BDUs (MarPat etc)

I've never had a pair of US issue-grade combats fade. Knock-off's are cheaper for a reason.
