tokyo marui famas f1 help

alright so today i was able to get out to a game and get age verified :D by don, i also got to play a bunch of games with one of his mp5s. He also had a famas which was out of commission and it really looked amazing to me. I was wondering how hard it would be to upgrade this guns fps and gears? The hi torque motor shouldn't be a problem for an m120 spring right?

Drache August 12th, 2007 17:18

From what allot of people have said the FAMAS is VERY hard to upgrade and parts are very hard to find. It might be a little different now though.

GreyFox132 August 12th, 2007 17:19

yea i've also heard that as well but i was hoping the great people on asc could help me out :)

FAMAS is basically the oldest gun in the TM line up. Aftermarket version 1 gears are about as common as unicorns. If you're going to upgrade one, you're better off sticking with a spring that the stock gear can handle for a while, 110s and below. Besides, MS120 will likely push you over 400fps.

whats the fps like in stock form? cause if its around 300-330 then im happy :) and i love the fact that it can rain hell with that high rof

The Saint August 12th, 2007 17:35

Only TM I can think of that maybe comes close to shooting over 300 consistently is the M14. Most TMs are around 280-290.

GreyFox132 August 12th, 2007 17:47

so if i drop a m110 in it should be okay on the gears? or nah? and what would the fps be like with an m110

The Saint August 12th, 2007 17:49

380fps-ish, depending on airseal and barrel length. If you want to play it safe, I'd go with a MS100 and be satisfied with 340ish.

GreyFox132 August 12th, 2007 17:52

340 is a nice fps id say, would the ms100 put a lot less strain on the gears? keeping me from having to upgrade them right away?

Drache August 12th, 2007 17:53

one thing I heard about the FAMAS though is make sure you get the version that has the hopup as the first version of the FAMAS didn't have one.

Also I also heard that if you break your gearbox, only another FAMAS for parts can help you out. Not sure if that's true though.

The Saint August 12th, 2007 17:54

Going down in power will always reduce the strain on the gears. I know that V2/3 gears can take 100 quite reliably. I don't know where V1 gears stand, though.

hmm alright, as for hi cap mags for this gun where would i be able to get some. i checked a&a but they do not sell the famas mag

The Saint August 12th, 2007 18:12

Airsoftparts.ca, tell them to order some for you in.

GreyFox132 August 12th, 2007 18:15

is their website down right now? cause the servers not found

The Saint August 12th, 2007 18:17

That would appear to be the case. You can just PM Jugglez on ASC, he's the owner.
