Marui M4 RIS Question
http://www.uncompany.com/pageproduct...sp?prodid=6150
I'm looking at buying a used one minus the (outter barrel) mounting brackets. So my question is: Does the RIS attach to the receiver AND the outter barrel? If so, is there much play/wobble when the mounting brackets are not attached? I think I may have some mounting brackets made or jimmy rig something up myself if they aren't the main things supporting the RIS. Also, is there room to fit an 8.4v mini in there? Thanks, Mark Edit: Just noticed this is probably is in the wrong section! Move if needed, thanks. |

When you say barrel wobble, do you mean just the outter barrel wobbles OR the foregrip/RIS will wobble with it? |
Just the barrel (on the old-type M4's) would wobble, but because the rail is held in place by the rear d-ring and the front retaining ring by the front sight (which is attached to the barrel) you may have some movement of the RIS unit, too. You *shouldn't* have a battery-storage issue with the "new-type" barrel as it is bevelled and stepped to accept a battery to begin with.
The ultimate cure (and will make your RIS solid as a rock, BTW) is to add a Laylax Nitro Rail, which attaches to the top of the RIS and goes straight back and bridges to the flat-top of your receiver. It make the whole thing "knock-down-trees" solid. You can see a pic of the Nitro Rail/RIS combo here: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v5...ors/ecco16.jpg I bought the actual rail and RIS from the guy in this picture, BTW. |
This is what I'm looking for?
http://www.redwolfairsoft.com/redwol...il?prodID=8802 Any cheaper? Also, I've been told by one source that I can't fit a battery in the RIS. Is this true? And if so, would a bit of dremeling fix the problem without compromising the RIS too much? |

No, you can't fit a battery in a RIS. It's just not possible, due to the profile of the RIS.
You'll either need to go with an AN/PEQ2a LAM type solution or a rear stock solution (full stock, G&P crane, etc) |
