Uncomfortable kneepads.

I recently picked up a pair of k neepads from army issue and damn if they are not the most uncomfortable things I've ever worn.

The straps dig into the back of my knees when I crouch, lossening the straps helps a bit but then they're too unstable while running.

Does anyone else have probelms with their knee pads? Any suggestions? Here's a picture of what the pads look like:

Thanks.

Yeah I have a similar problem, mostly because I have thicker legs and they're a little tight tho.

Keep the upper strap loose and the lower strap tight. That way, they don't fall down and are confortable when crouching.

Neoprene kneepads...I own a pair and find them quite comfortable.

haha i think it happens to lots of people, its kinda normal. get some bijans, or some neoprene ones form blackhawk or something

Hatch kneepads I found that same problem with. Alta kneepads are alot more comfortable I find.

Same kneepads, same problem. Can't complaint too much because I knew what I was paying for.

I'm considering sewing loops onto the front of my pants and running the straps through them instead of around my legs. Haven't done so because I'm considering switching BDU.

DuffMan December 14th, 2006 00:13

I think the concensus I've found is that Altas are the benchmark for comfort, bear in mind there are two versions, velcro and hook; the hook being superior.

I have something similar. I got knee pads that just clip onto your pants. I never wear knee pads because I find them uncofortable but now that I have these Im sure it will fix it. I havent played with them yet so I cant comment on how well they work.

Edit- These are them

I have the same knee pads you do and they killed the back of my knees aswell. I tried crossing the straps and it helped a lot for me. I don't know if you've already tried that yet, but it's worth a shot if you haven't.

The Saint December 14th, 2006 00:59

I've tried crossing the straps, but I don't remember how it worked out except that it didn't make things worst for me. Worth another try.

jamilsaleem December 14th, 2006 01:29

man i was about to say that..., it looks like the one i got. getting loose, sliding down and not being comfortable was always the problem until i saw a dude crossing the straps, dont remember who though...now it stays in place and is comfortable.

Hedonism Bot December 14th, 2006 01:35

thanks for all the replies. Ill try crossing he straps.

Pffft, i went for the no name $5 skateboarding ones from crappy tire, and they are the dogs bollocks....haven't had a problem with them yet....and they have been used for everything including roofing my house to some hard abuse on the field.

Buy a pair of vollyball ones and wear them under your BDU pants.
