Glock 19 Metal mag catch fitting problem

Hi yall. I did sum search on the forum and it seems like nobody is having problem installing this little piece except for me.... Now i brought the mag catch in Hk and long time ago and i dunt recall the brand, but it's definately not guarder, most likely it's G&G. I read the article on arnie's and they say sum filing is require on the metal rod.

Now my problem

it doesn't seem like the length is the problem, the rod cant slide into the slot on the mag catch. Has anybody got the same problem???? should i go ahead and file down the catch??

I had a similar problem with my Glock 17/18C mag catch, what you have to do is remove about 2mm from the stock rod. You can pull it out with a pair of needle nose pliers, I simply cut the rod with a wire cutter myself. :)

on mine i actually filled the mag catch. just enough to open the "slot" for the pin to fit in.

I filed the catch on mine. I removed about 0.5mm from the grove where you are supposed to stick the rod. I think it just might be leftovers from the casting mold that you can file or cut away with a sharp (disposable) knife.

Edit: Tex beat me to it.

same ... I just had to file some molding flash or the burr left when they cut the wire then it fit just fine.

ok i went and file the rod... and now its too short... it gives no resistant when i slide the catch in, i took off only about 1 mm. i am looking at the catch rite now it does not seem to be leftover.. it jsut seem to be made this way. Im trying to figure out if the rod is costingt he problem or the catch.

P.S anybody have an extra rod??

if only 1mm was taken off it should still have enough length to it to fit in the catch and work. Does it still stick up higher then the opening for the catch? If not then you will need a new one. Does it fit into the catch now? The slot on the catch was made too small on the metal ones, it doesnt look like leftovers it just looks too small hold it next to the stock one and file the metal one till they look the same.

I'll confirm that one needs to trim a short bit off the end of the spring, as it's the easiest way.
