British Issue pistol?

Hey guys, I was wondering if any of you know what pistols Britan(UK) is issueing lately? this is because I am putting together a british kit and want to know what pistol to get. I was thinking it was like a CZ 75 or a Browning Hi-Power, but I am not completely sure.

BHP or sig p226 for selected units

What unit, regiment or Corps are you going for? I know the Royal don't get issued sidearms.

gottyfunk December 9th, 2005 20:26

Isnt it an issue of rank? Most officers carry a side arm aswell as vehicle crew members. Its an awesome question though ..........id put my money on a browning hipower or some british manufactured handgun. In canada id say a paraordance but they are pricey probally a jtf2,pathfinder, recon , thing.? Just for the record diemaco was bought by colt. blah .............damn yanks!

do you have a clue about what you are talking about or just like to spout off....

At times its a mix of both.....i dont confess to be the know it all but i beleive front line infantry isnt issued sidearms.............i beleive most special units have there own supply lines depending on there theater or tasking.

ToRN December 9th, 2005 21:22

I'd say the second one for sure.

Because he damn well doesn't have a clue.

anyone who bothered to do research would know that the CF used to use the BHP (and still does) with them being replaces slowly with the Sig 225.

Digital_Assasin December 9th, 2005 21:24

Apparently not, from what you can see in his other posts. (gottyfunk)

But anywho, as far as I know the current issue handguns for the brits are the Schweizerische Industrie Gesellschaft (SIG) P226 and the older Browning L9A1.

Some units also field HKs and Walthers.

ok well first off canada is currently being issued the sig p226 wich is phasing out the browning highpower. secconldly not all officers carry sidearms. as well some ncms carry them.

cant help you with the issue stuff with britian though

gottyfunk December 9th, 2005 21:26

Well.............fine iam a cranky old bastard . Still a good topic, I understand OPSEC but the sidearm issue to CF members is still dependant on theater of OPs and rank.

Just a note there Pyle, They are currently using the 225, not the 226, there are differences between the two.

sorry my bad

ToRN December 9th, 2005 21:35

no problem. I probably wouldn't have known the difference unless I had done some searching online on my own. (you can't believe everything you're just told here.

I mean the sigs a stellar handgun...but isnt the DND really picky about non canadian suppliers.? Para ordance makes some awesome gear, and as we know are canadian so why not them? ...mmmm..?

PTE. Pyle December 9th, 2005 21:54

i belive and i could be wrong but para ordance make 1911 type hand guns. and im my best guess they are looking for somthing a little more modern of a design. also the cf are not to picky i mean alot of out arsenal is not canadian made. eg the c6 and c9. most of out explosive arsenal. obvieously artillary and mortars. the list goes on. alot of things arenot canadian made. even befor we had the c7 we used the fn
