Ics m4 / 16 reciever
Hi there, hope this is the right place to ask this.
A while ago my ics m16 was wounded, as the full stock ripped off the receivers, breaking both top and bottom :( and my queston is, can an ics m4 reciever fit the same upper gearbox as my m16 had? I put some upgrades into that upper gearbox and my knowledge of internals was about as far as being able to take that gearbox out of the top reciever.. I wouldn't dare ever open it up. So all I want to do is take my old upper gearbox from the m16 and throw it into an ice m4 that I my buy ( was never really into m16 anyway) Thanks |
So long as the M16 is also ICS manufactured, the components should be interchangeable. If not, the receiver will not be compatible with the split gearbox design.
Something to note: your M4 will require a ported cylinder for optimal performance. It is not likely that your M16 had a ported cylinder on account of the barrel length. |
Now if I do buy the m4 and I don't get a ported cylinder will it make the gun non functional? Or will it dramatically reduce the fps? I'm not really sure what the difference between cylinders are , although I understand what it does. Are these ported cylinders something I can buy afterwards? .. sorry, I am on a phone atm and its hard to research myself
Thank for the reply too, I appreciate it |

Your ICS M4 will come with a ported cylinder in its gearbox. I'm merely advising you not to drop the M16 upper gearbox into your M4 without first ensuring it too has a ported cylinder. |
