Protecting your red dot with phone protectors

I know there are some people that use lexan or killflash to protect their scopes.

Has anyone tried using these new ultra-durable screen protectors for phones and just stick it onto the red dot lense?

I mean stuff like these: http://www.zagg.com/us/en_us/invisibleshield

These were made to stop pebbles from cracking your windshield when driving on the highway. They now sell them for iphones and android as screen protectors.

Anyone tried this or think it might work against bbs?

If its something you already have that you're planning on cutting up. Sure give it a try. Heck, cut it in half and test fire a shot into it. If nothing else I suppose it would make a good first line of defence and slow the BB down significantly.

Otherwise just go to the nearest art store and buy a sheet of plexi, for much less than the cost of a screen protector. I had a few sheets of 1/16" plexi that I cut with scissors and an exacto and I feel safe with that.

The screen protector will stop the bb from entering the scope however the glass will still crack as the protector is flexible so it will slow the bb, likely prevent full penetration but you will still wind up with a broken ass sight.
lexan, the black watch kill flash or another similar product is you best (and really only) options for full protection . Those protectors would be great for the viewing side tho to protect from scratches and such but clarity could be a factor, especially in low lighting.

Thanks for the feedback guys. I figured the screen would still crack if I stick it onto the lense since phone screens are flexible but scopes are not.

I will probably go with the plexi / lexan path, although would they affect visibility when playing dim cqb arenas? I heard they are very transparent and shouldn't be too much of a problem.... what are your thoughts?

IF anything how about a scope protector attachment like these:

What exactly is your optic?

If it is a red dot, go out and get a killflash for that specific model if you can find them.

If it is a scope, try to find or adapt a killflash. If you can't, lexan or plexiglass will work.

If it is a holo, lexan or plexiglass. A killflash will darken your sight window too much.

The windshield of a car is much tougher than the cheap ACM optics.

Also use on a cell phone protects it from finger nail scratches not bb hits.
